Managing Notifications

You can manage settings for push and email notifications coming from OuterSpatial in the "Notification Settings" section of the OuterSpatial app. To get to this section:

1. Make sure you're logged in to the app. If you're not, switch to the "Me" tab, click the "Log In" button, walk through the log in process, and continue to the next step.
2. On the "Me" tab, tap the settings cog in the upper, right-hand corner of the screen — just underneath the image at the top.
3. Tap "Notification Settings".

You can now use the toggle buttons to turn off notifications for each channel that's available, e.g. "Tips & Tricks", "Product Updates", "Social Engagement", and the five sections under "Organization & Location Subscriptions" ("Alerts", "Check-Ins", "Posts", "Reviews", and "Report". Toggling the channel off will turn off both push and email notifications for the channel. If you prefer to stay subscribed to a channel but turn on/off push or email notifications, you can toggle the checkbox next to the notification type.

If you no longer have the mobile app installed and you'd like to unsubscribe from notifications, you can log in to your account on outerspatial.com and update your "Notification Settings" there.

Channels

The following notification channels are currently available in OuterSpatiatl:

• Tips & Tricks: Notifications for Tips & Tricks that help you learn how to use OuterSpatial.
• Product Updates: Notifications about new OuterSpatial features.
• Social Engagement: Notifications related to activity on posts you created or conversations you're participating in.
• Organization & Location Subscriptions: Notifications about updates made to organizations and locations (areas, trails, points of interest, and outings) you've subscribed to notifications. You can subscribe to/unsubscribe from five different update types individually:
  • Alerts
  • Check-Ins
  • Posts
  • Reviews
  • Reports

Subscribing to/Unsubscribing From Updates for an Organization or Location

In October 2024, we introduced the ability to subscribe to/unsubscribe from updates for an organization or location. Previously, if you had favorited an organization/location you would receive certain types of notifications about the organization/location. Separating subscribe/unsubscribe into a separate action allows you to create favorites without getting unwanted notifications, and gives you more granular control over the type of notifications you receive.

You can subscribe to/unsubscribe from notifications for an organization or location by opening the organization or location screen in the OuterSpatial app and toggling the notification button on/off in the header:

Some notes:

• If you favorite an organization, you'll receive notifications for every report that's created for any location across the entire organization.
• If you favorite an area, you'll receive notifications for every report that's created for the area itself or any of its child locations (trails, points of interest, and outings).
• If you favorite a trail, point of interest, or outing, you'll receive notifications for every report that's created for the specific location.
